University of Guelph Arboretum
There are a number of fine colleges and universities to choose from in the Toronto region. One option is the University of Guelph, located southwest of Toronto in the city of Guelph. More than 21,000 students attend this public research university in pursuit of undergraduate, graduate and associate degrees.
The university's main campus is home to a 30-acre research park and the 408-acre University of Guelph Arboretum, established in 1971. Not only do university students use this beautiful arboretum for research, the public also enjoys touring the facility to see its collection of 1,700 different shrubs and trees, plants and gardens.
In addition to classes, the arboretum also offers workshops and programs, as well as hosts events throughout the year. Take your time walking through the G. Porter Memorial Japanese Garden, the Miller English Garden, the Rose Garden and admire the collection of rhododendrons in the Leslie Hancock Memorial Rhododendron Collection.
