The Best Western Dryden dishes up some unbeatable perks. This Dryden hotel is newly renovated and pet-friendly, so every member of the family is welcome. "Full service" really means something here. It doesn't matter if you're in town for business or pleasure because every guest is accommodated and pampered (even Fido).

Hotels in Dryden are known for nestling guests against the great outdoors, but that means little if the service and quality isn't up to snuff. Right off of Highway 17, our Dryden hotel is fully committed to combining the best in service with the best location and convenience. We're halfway in between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario, so day-tripping is very doable.

Fishing, hunting, hockey and snow machining are just a few of the local past times. Regardless of the time of year, guests can always find an exciting sport to partake in. Catch the big one during the summer months and explore the landscape with a side dish of adrenaline during the winter on a snowmobile. The options are limitless.

Business travelers in town for the local hospitals, natural resources agencies, Domtar Pulp Mill, Hydro One, CN&CP Railroad and Bell, return again and again to this Dryden hotel. Our northern community hub is a mecca for guests looking for a little adventure with their work. There are many water activities, tourism is big, and the shopping is fantastic.

Don't forget about our full service restaurant onsite, which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and late night appetizers in the lounge.

Most Popular Area Attractions

Egli's Sheep Farm & Animal Park

Animal lover in the family? Called the “Home of the Big Sheep,” Egli’s Sheep Farm & Animal Park is 12 miles west of Dryden in northern Ontario. Egli’s features a retail storefront selling wool and leather products handcrafted on site, including blankets, jackets, motorcycle accessories and sheepskin rugs.

Visitors can take a self-guided tour through the 80-acre animal park to see domestic and exotic farm animals alike. The park also offers interactions with some of the smaller, more social animals, while the Bird Aviary and Lambing Barn are popular draws throughout the warmer seasons.

Lake of the Woods Museum

While traveling in northwest Ontario, take time to visit Kenora on the shore of Lake of the Woods. Many visitors to Kenora, located east of Dryden, enjoy the wonderful variety of recreational activities and attractions available. Tour the award-winning Lake of the Woods Museum, "one of the coolest little museums in Canada." Browse the exhibits to see the collections of aboriginal artifacts, dioramas, artifacts from the steamboat era and photographs.

Throughout the years since opening in 1964, the museum has actively expanded its collections totaling more than 25,000 items. These include First Nations artifacts, industrial items, journals, beadwork, Rat Portage souvenirs and natural history specimens. Plan your visit to the museum in conjunction with one of the many events hosted at the museum throughout the year, for a fun day of learning.

Max the Moose

While visiting the lively northwest Ontario city of Dryden, keep a lookout for the town mascot. He's easy to spot since he is a eighteen-foot-high, nine ton statue named Max the Moose. The statue is located on the Trans-Canada Highway, near the tourist information center.

Not only do local residents love Max, they celebrate him, plus a variety of fun family activities, during the annual Moosefest Festival. Make the short drive in from nearby Sioux Lookout

This month-long festival celebrates the diversity of Dryden with live music in the park, the Teddy Bear Picnic, a soap box derby, the Dryden Walleye Masters, a windsurfing regatta, canoe races, a strong man competition and Canada Day

Wabigoon Lake

Named after the Ojibwe word for “white feather,” Wabigoon Lake is located in the community of Dryden. Make travel plans for the western part of northern Ontario and check out this premier lake. With an area of 26,000 acres and 114 miles of shoreline, the lake is a very popular fishing and boating destination.

The Wabigoon River serves as the primary inflow and outflow for the lake, which provides a wealth of game fish species to fishermen. Common Wabigoon Lake catches include Walleye, Muskie, Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Perch and Crappie.
