Throughout the initial years, additions were made to expand the gallery, resulting in 413,000 square feet of exhibit space by 1933.

By 2004, the gallery was ready for a significant renovation. Local architect, Frank Gehry designed the $276 million Transformation AGO project, his first project in Canada. The Art Gallery of Ontario was unveiled in 2008, featuring a new entrance, a new four-story wing made of blue titanium and glass and a new wood and glass facade.

A team of three hundred construction workers completed this incredible house from 1911 - 1914, at a cost of nearly $3.5 million. It was designed by E.J. Lennox, a local architect who also designed several other Toronto landmarks.

In addition to the 98-room house, the property included a potting shed, stables, a 4,380-square-foot Hunting Lodge, five acres of gardens and an 800-foot tunnel to the Hunting Lodge and stables. After World War I began, construction stopped and the third floor of the house was not completed.

Enjoy a self-guided tour of this magnificent estate to see the Great Hall, Library, Dining Room, the Conservatory, Serving Room, Peacock Alley, Study, Smoking Room, Billiard Room, Sir Henry Pellatt's Suite, Sir Henry Pellatt's Bathroom, Lady Pellatt's Suite, the Round Room and more.
