For skiers and snowboarders, head for the Mount Evergreen Ski & Recreation Area, a short drive from downtown Kenora.
A popular destination for ice fishing, Lake Temagami is a short and scenic drive north of Sudbury. You'll have the choice of renting a small bungalow on the ice or brave the brisk temperatures and free fish in the elements – try to land a pike or a lake herring.
Further north you'll want to visit Cochrane. A charming and quaint city, Cochrane is home to the Greenwater Provincial Park, and a short drive to the Kamiskotia Snow Resort. Try a little snowboarding, down hill skiing, or enjoy a quick lesson if you're a first timer.
You'll enjoy a pleasant afternoon of ice skating in Sioux Lookout, home of the Memorial Arena Ice Skating Rink – head over and hit the ice during public skating sessions.
