Visiting Toronto

Summer in Toronto will soon turn to autumn, and with the change comes a whole batch of exciting, must-see events, festivals, concerts, and more. Plan your next trip to Ontario and be sure you spend plenty of time exploring this eclectic and sterling metropolitan city.

This time of year opens up great possibilities for sports fans visiting the Toronto Metro Area. The Toronto Blue Jays finish up their home schedule with a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles starting on September 27th. Each game starts at 7:07 p.m. at the Rogers Centre.

Hockey fans will no doubt be interested in catching a Maple Leafs game while in town. The Leafs kickoff their 2016-17 season in mid-October, and play their first home game at Air Canada Centre on October 15th against the Boston Bruins – the puck drops at 7 p.m. And if soccer is what you prefer, the Toronto FC finish up their regular season against the Chicago Fire at BMO Field on October 23rd.

Late-October in Toronto yields more than just exciting sports matches. Visit the area any time between October 20th and 30th for the annual International Festival of Authors. This 10-day literary festival will feature events held at the Harbourfront Centre, a short drive from nearby Richmond Hill or Burlington. You can sit-in on lectures, hear top authors read excerpts, and there will also be Q & A sessions.

Just south of Toronto you’ll find Hamilton. Here, from October 14th through 23rd, be sure to check out the wide-ranging 2016 AGH BMO World Film Festival. Head for the Art Gallery of Hamilton any time across the 10 days to see screenings of indies, shorts, foreign films, and plenty more.

When your late-summer visit has you exploring Fergus, be sure to take a quick spin northwest into Arthur. Here, from September 8th through 11th, you can check out the annual Arthur Fair. Presented by the Arthur Agricultural Society, and hosted at the Arthur Community Centre, this four-day event celebrates local farmers and artisans. Check out the Western Horse Show or the Lawn Tractor Pull.

One of the biggest and most anticipated concert events of the season is coming to the Air Canada Centre this fall. Critically acclaimed and world famous hip-hops stars Drake and Future will perform two shows – October 8th and 9th – as part of their current world tour. Locals from nearby Georgetown and Milton are sure to make the drive in for this can’t-miss show.
